It is very easy to feel discouraged, angry, or depressed considering the events taking place in Washington today. The new administration and its allies thrive in the chaotic environment they create. They are counting on our exhaustion and despair. The best way to combat these emotions is through action.
Volunteer for a Subcommittee
If you're interested in volunteering on one of the ICDP subcommittees that were established, let us know. We need people for:
Fundraising
Community Outreach, Education, and Engagement
Candidate Recruitment
Call a Representative
Calling our representatives is something simple we can all do to have an impact. We are working on developing (or finding) scripts, and streamlining the process. To get a jump on things, consider adding these contacts to your cell phone! The email links you to the form that each legislator uses for email.
If you are looking to make a phone call or send an email today - here's something to consider telling them you are opposed to:
Goals of Project 2025 that would be DETRIMENTAL to Public Education
Eliminate Title 1 Funding
Eliminate Title IX
Eliminate the Department of Education and redistribute responsibilities to the Department of Health and Human Services.
Reallocate public tax dollars to private schools through vouchers
Elimate DEI programming and punish schools which teach "CRT"
Tax endowments for College as part of the Trump Tax Plan
Additionally, the ACLU has some nice easy ways to "Take Action" if you'd like to look into that. Their website has a list of issues that you can choose from, and you can click "Send a Message" to learn more and access a basic script to copy / paste.
Attend the State Convention
If you are interested in the State Convention let us know. It is on February 22nd. You have to be a member of the state party at least thirty days before the convention to attend.
Bring a Friend!
